Royal Doulton "Jolly Toby" Earthenware Toby Jug

Item Details

An earthenware Toby jug titled Jolly Toby by Royal Doulton. This piece depicts an 18th century man dressed in a burgundy coat, yellow waistcoat with six black buttons, blue breeches, and black tricorne hat. The man is holding a tankard of beer in one hand and a cane in the other, and there is a cane-shaped handle on the back. The mug was designed by Harry Fenton and incised on the base, ‘Jolly Toby’. The underside is stamped with the maker’s mark.
