A Ford & Sons ironstone tureen and serving platter in the Brentford pattern. Each piece displays a cream body decorated with a transferware design of floral motifs with hand-painted hues of orange, pink, and yellow accented with black leaves. The floral design is flanked by gilt trimmed acanthus leaves and a red geometrical border. The tureen has a domed, fitted lid adorned with a shaped finial and scalloped side handles. It includes a matching scalloped serving platter. The tureen features an underglaze mark to the underside ‘F&Sons Ltd, Brentford, Burslem, England’ indicating production during the late 19th century.
Condition
- lid of tureen has been broken and glued back together; heavy crazing throughout; odor present.
