Item Details
A vintage U.S. Army Air Force bubble sextant (octant) type A-12. The piece is stored in its original fabric lined case with fitted compartments and fabric lined hard case exterior with metal hardware and leather wrapped handle. It includes its original Link Bubble Sextant (Octant) Model A-12 paper bound handbook. It retains its original metal tags marked ‘Army Air Force Sextant (Bubble)’ with Type A-12 and Serial AF43-6894. The United States Army Air Forces were created in 1941 and became a separate branch of the armed services as the U.S. Air Force by an act of Congress in 1947.
