An oil painting on canvas titled Perennials by Dayton artist Virginia K. Hess. This contemporary abstract work features a riot of splashes of vibrant colors in an energetic composition. The piece is signed by the artist to the lower left corner and dated 1985. It is presented in a painted white plywood strip frame.
Virginia Krause Hess is a versatile, distinguished artist from Dayton, Ohio whose works range from oil paintings to wood, ceramic, stone and metalwork sculptures in subjects spanning from from abstract work, portraiture and landscapes, to historical scenes and events. She has fulfilled commissions from public institutions and private collectors both regionally and nationally. In 2006, Ms. Hess unveiled a bronze bust at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Virginia received her formal art education at the School of the Dayton Art Institute and the University of Dayton. She has taught fine art classes at several institutions throughout the Ohio Valley Region.
