Pair of Indonesian Batik Paintings on Cotton After the Balinese Style

Item Details

A pair of Indonesian batiks in the Balinese style. These batik works may represent scenes from Ramayana by Valmiki circa 500 B.C. These pieces are made of cotton with colorful dyes and remnants of wax residue. They are marked ‘WIM’ and ‘Lui’, respectively, to the lower right corners. The batiks are presented behind black mats behind glass in gold toned wooden frames.

Condition

- some wear, scratching, chipping, and denting to the frame to be expected with age and use.
