Southern Bwa Owl Mask and Northern Kurumba Adoné Headdress

A southern Bwa owl plank mask used for ceremonial dances paired with a Kurumba Adoné (antelope) headdress. The owl mask from the Bwa people of Mali features a 79.00’ wing span with a carved out opening to verso for wearing on the face, wide carved and painted wings, and a curved hook beak to the front. The long horned antelope effigy headdress piece has a hollowed out base to wear on the performer’s head. The headdress is from northern Burkina Faso.
