Bill Schiffer Plaster Sculpture "Flame"

Item Details

Plaster

A plaster sculpture titled Flame by contemporary artist Bill Schiffer. This painted sculpture features swaths of bight hues against a black ground and depicts an undulating form. The work is signed and dated by hand along an outer edge and presented atop a white square base.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Shiffler is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
