A mixed media collage on paper by contemporary New York artist Bill Schiffer. This Minimalist style collage is composed of what appears to be cut pieces of colored ground. They are assembled together to create geometric and silhouetted forms energetically clashing over a contour line drawing of a building exterior with window sills. To the lower right corner is a handwritten, dated signature. The paper is affixed to a white backing and is placed under glass in a natural wooden frame with hanging wire and a title to the verso.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
