An antique sauerkraut cutter mandolin. This piece features maple construction including a grooved mortise and sliding wood box assembled with finger joints. The cutter element is comprised of three angled blades, secured with bolts and wing nuts to the frame. The blades are designed to shave cabbage into thin slices, traditionally used in making sauerkraut. This piece likely dates to the late 19th to early 20th century.
