A hand-knotted contemporary Anatolian wool area rug. The rug has been worked in abrash shades of ivory, charcoal, canary, indigo, scarlet, salmon, and green. The rug features a large cruciform motif infilled with an eight-pointed star, panels, and hooked ends flanked by symmetrical diamond devices with extended rectangular wings. The scarlet field is further populated by peacocks and deer as well as linear guls. There are narrow checked guard borders, floral minor borders, and an unresolved primary border featuring alternating gul devices in varying color combinations. The selvedges are double overcast and there is natural gray wool fringe at each end. The rug is not marked.
