A hand colored engraving on paper titled Playing at Thread the Needle after William Hamilton (1751 – 1801) and engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi (1727 – 1815). This illustration depicts young children playing the game ‘Thread the Needle’ in fine detail and delicate coloring. The piece is signed in plate to the left margin of the work ‘W. Hamilton, inv t’ and to the lower right of the work ‘F. Bartolozzi, Sculpt., 1785.’ It is presented behind a phthalo blue wood reveal under glass in a wood frame.
