Vintage Louis XV Style Three-Drawer Dresser by John M. Smyth Co.

Item Details

A vintage Louis XV style three-drawer dresser by the John M. Smyth Co. The veneered case is finished in flame-grained, birch on the drawer fronts with gilt- and yellow-painted accents. It features a rectangular top with molded edges above a floral-carved frieze and three machine-dovetailed, long drawers with oak linings. The fronts are fitted with foliate-scrolled, brass-tone handles and the top drawer opens to reveal a three compartment interior. Flanking the drawers are molded stiles with outset, Rococo style ornaments continuing to a scrolled apron and short, cabriole legs with wooden casters. The back is marked ‘573 / 178’ and there is a partially-obscured, manufacturer’s label.
