The work depicts a young woman with bobbed dark hair, looking somewhat pensively to her right, wearing a low-cut lavender top. Behind her on the left is an aqua curtain, and to the right, a gold and blue lattice-patterned wallpaper. The piece is rendered in a sensitive yet energetic manner, with a lovely display of brushwork to the features of the woman’s face. The painting is unframed and signed to the lower right corner with Leighton Smith’s monogram. Leighton Smith is listed in Who Was Who in American Art.
