An original Abstract Expressionistic tempera on paper painting by listed New York artist Leighton Smith (20th Century). The work which is rendered in natural shades of gray, beige, aqua, light blue and cream, depicts four horses, three standing as a group, and one by itself to the left. The background depicts trees and shrubs painted in a light and loose manner with aqua daubs of paint and thin black lines. The painting is unframed and signed to the lower right corner with Leighton Smith’s monogram. Leighton Smith is listed in Who Was Who in American Art.
