An original Abstract Expressionistic tempera on paper painting by listed New York artist Leighton Smith (20th Century). The colorful and vibrant work depicts a woman, attired in a flowered dress and with short black hair, seated on a green iron bench with scrolling ferns to the scalloped back. The woman is looking down at a sandwich, which she has taken from table in the foreground. To the back is a shelf with four large potted plants. The painting is framed in a narrow wood frame, matted in cream and signed to the lower right corner with Leighton Smith’s monogram. Leighton Smith is listed in Who Was Who in American Art.
