Martin was an educator, painter, and printmaker, most well-known for her landscapes. The artist received her formal training from the Rhode Island School of Design in drawing and painting. She studied under acclaimed regional artist Eliza Gardiner (Rhode Island, 1871 – 1955). Later, she secured a career teaching art at the Lincoln School in Providence. Martin was member of the Providence Art Club and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and exhibited in a primarily regional circle. The artist fostered a deep love for nature, which can be noted in her selected subject matter. A beloved regional artist, she was listed in Who’s Who in American Art. Today, her works can primarily be found in private collections.
