1928 Book "Maya' and a 1937 Festival Portfolio Inscribed by Eslander G. Robeson

A 1928 hardcover edition of the play Maya (the acting version) by Simon Gantillon, translated from the French by Ernest Boyd, published by The Actors Managers Inc., New York. It is coupled with a 1937 portfolio from The Soviet Theatre Festival. Inside of the portfolio are five pamphlets from different plays and theaters, all in English, each summarizing the various plots. Both of the books are inscribed by Eslander Goode Robeson, writer and wife of actor, Paul Robeson. Maya is also inscribed by Robeson on the inside cover board and ‘Compliments of Sidney Rose’ is inscribed in blue ink on the free endpaper.

Condition

Consistent with age. Maya has some loose pages, foxing and yellowing. The Soviet portfolio has a tear in the inner lining, pamphlets are intact.
