1948 Letter Signed By Thorton Wilder to Herbert Marshall

A handwritten letter dated January 3, 1948 from American Pulitzer Prize playwright and novelist, Thornton Wilder (1847-1975) to Herbert Marshall. In the letter, Wilder mentions Robert Ardrey and a production of Wilder’s play, Our Town, in Berlin. The play was translated in the German language, and subsequently closed by the Russian authorities as being, ‘defeatist’. Thornton signed the letter in ink and it is written on stationary from his Hamden Connecticut home.
