Bill Schiffer Acrylic Painting

Item Details

An acrylic painting on canvas of an abstract composition by contemporary New York artist Bill Schiffer. This painting depicts interlocking squares that are layered on top of one another, which are split at a diagonal of two tones featuring green, purple and yellow. These forms are overlaid on a silver tone background. The painting is wrapped over a wooden stretcher with hanging wire to the verso.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
