Item Details
Other
A collection of crayon and marker drawings by Bill Schiffer. These mixed media drawings depict abstract geometric forms in a precise continual pattern which spreads across the picture plane. They are accented by vibrant punctuation of color filling in some shapes to create focal points and balance in the compositions. These works are signed to their lower right corners and dated ‘’76’. They are presented unframed.
Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
