Bill Schiffer Marker Drawings
Item Details
Other
A selection of marker drawings on loose paper by contemporary New York artist Bill Schiffer of abstract compositions. These five drawings feature The Entertainer and Tickler, with each work depicting segmented collages of geometric shapes, as well as stippled and zig-zagged patterning contained by a drawn border. To the margins are handwritten signatures and titles, which are mostly dated to 1988.
Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
