Contemporary Scottish Encaustic on Canvas
Item Details
A contemporary c. 1989 encaustic on canvas mounted on board work by a Scottish artist. The Minimalist piece has a modern graphic vibe, with a depiction of two geometric medallions composed of five dots each, in russet red and chocolate brown, their intense colors exposed after the artist carved away circles of wax, with the canvas divided into quadrants with incised lines drawn through the wax. The canvas surface is diffused beneath a layer of translucent off white wax, with the only colors of the composition being that of the ten small circles. The unframed work is unsigned.
Condition
minor marks throughout due to the nature of the encaustic medium, edge wear
