A mid 20th century Dogon African carved wooden mask. The mask is designed in an elongated shape, with exaggerated stark features, highlighted to the top of the mask with a scalloped crest, rectangular open eye sockets, and oval mouth with geometrically cut cheek recesses to each side.The wood mask is carved from a single piece of wood of an unknown type, with a hollowed out back with wire for wall attachment. The mask depicts a stylized human face, carved in a primitive, yet minimalist and modern style.
