A wall hanging sculpture by Bill Schiffer titled Bird on a Wire. This sculpture is made from wood materials with a painted composite material coating with ruffled texture to its surface. This abstract piece consists of a square frame with a divided interior and a spherical shape sitting to the right on each of the three planes. This piece appears to be without a signature to the front.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
