A Royal Doulton Sir Walter Raleigh character jug. This handmade glazed ceramic jug depicts Sir Walter Raleigh wearing black hat, ruff collar, and a blue jacket. Sir Walter Raleigh was a sixteenth-century Englishman best known for his favor with Queen Elizabeth I and his exploration of Virginia. The handle is in the shape of a rolled rug and a globe. The underside is marked “Hand Made and Hand Decorated, Royal Doulton Classics, Character Jug of The Year 2002 Sir Walter Raleigh, D7169, Limited Edition of 1000 This is 540”. The piece comes with the original box and a certificate of authenticity.
