A hand-knotted Anatolian wool area rug. This unique rug features a slightly sculpted pile, and is rendered in a palette of wine, sapphire, white, gold, emerald, and silver. The field begins with a white hexagonal pendant medallion layered in a sapphire and wine serrated lozenge, while featuring numerous floral motifs, and large leaf forms. Each end of the field also features flowering branches to the spandrels, and a band of repeated quatrefoil florettes. Framing the field is a main border of a landscape design showing structures, trees, and double cross motifs, as well as a pair of carnation meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a twisted wool warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled
