Vintage Flavio Poli for Seguso Sommerso Glass Teardrop

A vintage sommerso glass teardrop designed by listed Italian artist Flavio Poli (1900-1984). This piece is rendered in layers of cobalt, emerald, and pink, cased clear. It features an elongated, teardrop shaped body which rests on a round base. This piece dates to the mid 20th century. Poli developed the sommerso or ‘submerged’ technique during his tenure as the artistic director of Seguso Vetri d’Arte in Murano. His work is included in the MoMA’s permanent collection.
