Peter Keil Oil Painting on Masonite "Flowers II"

Item Details

An oil painting on masonite by listed German artist Peter Keil, titled Flowers II. This Expressionist style painting depicts three flowers emerging from a bulbous vase, set against a segmented background of bright orange and pastel tones. The forms are reinforced by thick, black brush strokes. To the lower right corner of the composition is a painted artist signature appearing to be dated 1992. The work is titled, dated and signed to the verso with an affixed informational tag. For more information on the artist, visit the link below.

Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
