An ink and watercolor illustration on paper by listed New York artist and photojournalist Eliot Elisofon (1911 – 1973). The piece depicts an abstract ocean landscape under a covering of ominous clouds, with a brown post emerging from the waters to the center of the composition. The piece is rendered in a palette of blue, grey and pink hues. It is signed ‘Elisofon 44’ in brown ink to the lower right, with an inscription of ‘To Cynthia – Eliot 1953’ written in blue ink below. The work is set over a tan paper backing and presented under glass in a vintage silver tone wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
