Two Oil Paintings on Canvas Board Including After Fasciotti's "Boy with Pipe"
Item Details
A pair of mid-to-late 20th-century oil paintings on canvas by an anonymous artist. Featured is a copy oil painting on canvas after Giovanni Fasciotti’s (1883 – 1961) Boy with Pipe, depicting the portrait of a young fisherman smoking a wooden pipe. Also included is a portrait of a girl wearing a patterned head scarf, hoop earrings and a blue and white dress. Both unsigned works are presented without glass in matching gold tone wooden frames with ornate foliate-motif gesso embellishments. Each is fitted with a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- craquelure and surface wear to both paintings, with heavier wear to Boy with Pipe at lower left; foxing, toning and discoloration to both images; areas of surface scratching and staining present; edge wear, chipping and scratching to frames; large piece of gesso is broken off to upper right of female portrait frame; broken gesso piece is attached to frame verso in a protective bag; tears and staining to frames’ backing paper.
