A hand-colored engraving on paper after H.W. Bond titled The New Opening to St. Martin’s Church (from Pall Mall East), created after a painting by listed British artist Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (1792 – 1864). The London street scene depicts a late 19th-century view of Westminster, with pedestrians and carriages moving through streets that lead to St Martin-in-the-Fields church. The unsigned print includes title and artist information printed in plate to the lower margin. It is matted in cream and presented under glass in a black wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- moderate toning, foxing and discoloration to image and mat; edge wear, scratches and scuffing to frame.
