A pair of etchings on paper of European architecture by listed artist Émile Frederic Nicolle (1830 – 1894). These two monochromatic etchings depict a mother and child walking past a cobblestone lodge towards an alley, while the other depicts a treaded road cutting through rustic buildings clustered together. To the lower margins of each etching is an in-plate signature and what appears to be a title. The prints are presented under matting in either a silver tone metal or wooden frame. The composition of the mother and child also features an embossed seal that pokes from an excised portion of matting. To the verso is affixed hanging wire.
Condition
- there is some foxing to the etching with green mat; light edge wear to frame; slight discoloration to prints.
