Pair of Hamilton Lancaster WW II Era Ship Chronometers
Item Details
A pair of Hamilton Lancaster World War II era ship chronometers. The chronometers feature brass casings and white faces with black Arabic numerals and two sub dials, one to the six o’clock position and one to the twelve o’clock position. One chronometer is impressed to the back ‘MTD Watch, Bureau Of Ships, U.S. Navy, 13359-1942 . When the back is removed from the chronometer the inner workings are stamped ’Hamilton Watch Co., Model 22-21 Jewels, ADJ. To Temp. & 6 POS., Made In U.S.A., 2F3083’. Only the number ‘8792-1943 ’ differs in the impression to the back of the second chronometer and the inner workings are stamped the same with the addition of ’U.S. Navy-BU. Ships-1942’ and the number ‘2F16137’.
