Vintage "George Washington" Desk by Kitinger
Item Details
A vintage walnut George Washington desk from Kitinger having a rectangular top flanked by two, two-tiered shelves with dovetailed constructed bracket sides and backs. The two pedestals are fitted with drawers and flanked by routed concentric circles. A pencil drawer functions above the kneehole. All the drawers are dovetailed with cock bead trim and brass bail hardware. The sides are fitted with matching but faux drawers and trim. The piece stands on fluted, tapered legs and ball feet. This desk is a copy of the original that George Washington selected for the President’s mansion location at the nation’s first capital in New York City. The original can be viewed in the Governor’s Room at City Hall, New York City.
