A collection of vintage Official Guide of the Railways with scheduling, route, freight and other information on rail lines operating in the United States, Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, also including “timetables of railroads in Central America.” These guides were the main source of information and used by ticket agents, railroad personnel, travel agencies and other travel planning companies. The guides include an index of stations, general rail-related news items and personnel information. The guides also included steamship schedules and passenger train schedules. In the 1970s, the guide was becoming anachronistic and it was split into separate guides for various industry editions. This collection includes six original guides from the 1970s.
