A 2003 oil painting on unstretched canvas by contemporary Bolivian artist Mario Vargas Cuellar. The piece depicts a male Native American figure wearing a Plains-style war bonnet, and looking upward while holding a spear aloft. In the background is a tipi dwelling, as well as the portrait of a second figure, appearing to fade into the mottled blue evening sky. The work is signed and dated in black paint to the lower left and presented unframed.
Condition
- wear and creasing to edges, with media loss present; item tends toward rolled state from prior storage; unevenly cut edges to unframed canvas.
