Early 20th-Century Knights of Columbus Presentation Sword with Scabbard
Item Details
A Knights of Columbus presentation sword from the early 20th century, with scabbard. This sword features a slim, straight blade with ivy etchings and the name ‘Maxwell R. Baker’ engraved into the flat; the ricasso bears the maker’s mark of the Pettibone Brothers Manufacturing Company, which produced fraternal swords in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area between 1880 and 1920. The silver-toned hilt features a knight’s-head pommel and a pierced bowtie crossguard with a central rainguard badge showing the Templar symbol of a cross with a crown; the black wooden grip has an inset silver-toned cross. The sword is presented with a steel scabbard with two suspension rings and a flattened chape.
Condition
