Louis XV Style Fauteuil Chairs

Item Details

A pair of Louis XVI style leopard upholstered fauteuil chairs. The chairs feature a dark wooden frame with an arched carved top rail with a floral medallion to the center. Each arm has an upholstered elbow pad leading to a serpentine and incised apron with pressed shell motif. The chairs rest on cabriole legs with carved ornamentation to the knee and terminate in a scroll foot with an acanthus leaf detailing. The back of each chair shows an exposed open scrolled acanthus leaf carving.
