Japanese Textile Collages of Figures

A pair of Japanese textile collages of figures. These two works depict a pair of figures adorned in traditional, patterned robes and kimonos set against a toned background. The figures are composed of cut and folded pieces of fabric, thread and tissue paper, with drawn elements indicating facial features. To the lower right corner of the collage featuring stout figures is a handwritten artist signature reading ‘From Keiko Utumi’. The other composition includes a red artist seal to the lower left corner. The works are affixed to a backing with strung rope to each corner, with hanging rope tied to the top center.

- slight fraying to edges of fabric pieces.
