A pair of baseball photo pinbacks. This selection includes circa 1909 Thomas Downey Reds ‘Sweet Caporal’I tobacco pinback with the original paper advertising insert retained. Depicting an early head-shot of Reds Star outfielder Thomas Downey, this brown sepia pinback presents its original metal fastener on the backside. Also enclosed is a ‘Senators’ team pin This pin portrays an early team wearing early 1900s attire. It appears that this pinback is a contemporary piece that has been artificially aged.
Condition
The Downey “Sweet Caporal” pinback is in very good condition with original paper insert and metal fastener retained. The “Senators” team pinback has edge and surface wear with rust pitting. It appears that this pinback was artificially aged.

The measurements reflect the size of “The Senators” pinback. The Downey “Sweet Caporal” pinback measures approximately .75" wide.
