A 20th-century hand-colored lithograph on paper after a circa 1766 etching by Dutch artists Caspar Jacobsz Philips (1732 – 1789) and P. Fouquet Junior. The print, titled Gezicht na de Raam Poort te Amsterdam, depicts a peaceful 18th-century Dutch cityscape, with a glassy canal situated in the foreground. The unsigned print includes artist and title information printed in plate to the lower margin. It is matted in yellow and presented under glass in a black wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame backing includes a written notation reading ‘Frederic Ackerson, May 7, 1976’.
Condition
- to fair; mild discoloration to print and matting; slight wrinkling to ground; minor wear to frame; dust and residue to glass.
