A power-loomed M.J. Whitall Anglo-Persian Art Nouveau Style wool area rug. This unique rug is rendered in a palette of rose, lavender, gold, ivory, slate green, and black. The striated rose colored field features bold imagery of avian, floral, bamboo, flowering branches, and water motifs. Framing the field is an equally unique Chinese cloud band border with added blooms, along with a floral and fret meander guard border, and other symbolic patterned minor borders. Finishing the rug are bound edges and an applied ivory braided and knotted fringe to the ends. Partially labeled to the underside.
