A hand-stitched French Aubusson-style neddlepoint area rug. This magnificent carpet is rendered in shades of flaxen, ruby red, rose, camel, cream, pale blue, walnut and ivory. It is designed with a central oval cameo medallion embellished with roses and swags of floral vines. The main field of the carpet is ruby red with tone-on-tone swirling foliate designs. Its outside border presents more floral bouquets accenting the field which is flanked by alternating solid minor borders. The carpet finishes with overcast selvedges and turned bound edges.
