Vintage Hand-Knotted Kazak Wool Area Rug

A vintage hand-knotted Kazak wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, salmon, indigo, powder blue, camel, and sepia. The ivory colored field begins with three hooked octagonal medallions infilled with varyious motifs like animals, flowers, ram’s horns, and hooked forms. The field also features sparsely placed motifs of animals, branched rosettes, muska-like forms, and other geometrically shaped symbols. Framing the field is a main animal and rosette patterned border, and four leaf and blossom minor borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and an ivory cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
