A vintage handwoven Anatolian wool area rug. This tribal rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, saffron-cornsilk, navy, ivory, and black. The field begins with an off centered diamond medallion with concentric frames, and zigzag lines of various patterns including, hooked forms, muskas, running water, comb, and other geometric symbols and motifs. Framing the field are multiple borders including florettes, animal head patterns, arrows, laleh abbasi and barber pole striped borders. Finishing the rug are six overcast selvedges and an embroidered skirted end with a bound end, and a braided ivory cotton warp fringe to the other end. Unlabeled.
