A hand-knotted Caucasian area rug. This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of madder-red, midnight blue, muted yellow, ecru, mint, marigold, coral, ocher, and black. It features a crenelated rhomboid medallion with attached pendants on a coral-red field patterned with unique, angular flowers. The corner spandrels feature the same angular floral vine motifs. It has guard borders of ‘X’ grids and carnation meander patterns with a stylized herati pattern main border. It is finished with overcast edges and natural warp fringe to either end. Unlabeled.
