A hand-knotted Indian wool area rug. This Persian style rug is rendered in a palette of rose, ivory, powder blue, black, taupe, and cornsilk. The ornately designed rose colored field begins with a central diamond pendant medallion with coordinating spandrels, and features scrolling floral and foliate motifs with perched birds throughout. The overly populated field is framed with a stylized herati patterned main border, along with rosette patterned guard borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and an ivory warp fringe to the ends, as well as a label to the underside.
