John Willenbecher Op Art Airbrush on Board Assemblage in Plexiglas-Fronted Cube

Item Details

Other

A modern two-sided Op Art airbrush on board assemblage displayed in a plexiglas and wood freestanding cube by listed New York artist John Willenbecher (20th century). The c. 1966 piece is composed of a layered half circle created from gradated arc segments, going from off white to the inside, through soft shades of pink, to grays on the outside of the arc. The center is a void punctuated by a stainless steel disc, with the entire piece displayed upon a black background material. The opposite side is an exact duplicate, but in a blue to gray color way. The work is presented in a deep black-painted wooden cube with plexiglas covers to both sides. A beige painted parsons table is included for display. Information about the artist is included in the enclosed links. Willenbecher’s work is widely collected and exhibited, included in permanent collections of Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Neuberger Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design-Museum of Art and The University of Michigan Museum of Art, to name a few.
