A watercolor on paper titled Buildings #42 by David L. Smith. This unframed piece depicts a Victorian house in a palette of blue, violet, green, gold, red, brown and neutral colors. The artwork has a neutral mat and is hand signed to the lower right corner. David L. Smith (1921-2016) was a dedicated Ohio artist. He taught art at Fairmont West, retiring in 1983. In retirement, he taught painting and drawing at the University of Dayton, the Dayton Art Institute, the River Bend Art Center and from his winter home in Florida. Smith was president of the Western Ohio Watercolor Society, Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, a member of the Miami Valley Arts Council and an establishing member of the 48 High Street Art Gallery where he was active until just months before his death. His watercolors are exhibited in numerous art galleries, and he is also known for his sketches and drawings.
