Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool rug features an allover rectilinear herati pattern of palmettes, leaves, flowers, and vinework in cream, slate blue, peach, coral and mocha over a taupe field. Framing the field are compound borders. The main border features a pattern of repeating multicolored flowering plants amid geometric florets and abstract motifs over cream; it is flanked on either side by multicolored running water and meandering floral minor borders over coral. Selvedges are overcast in ochre, the rug finishing at each end with short tan cotton warp fringe. A label on the reverse reads ‘Made in Iran.’
